I seamed the Vouge jacket tonight - and even got the collar knit up. I just need a zipper. I left the armpits undone, I need to figure out how to add a gusset. It's pretty tight under there.

Next up... Multi-directional scarf out of my precious red Manos.

The holidays were relaxing - except I was so relaxed, I never got to make Tiramisu. I will this week though, I have the espresso waiting.

Grandma liked her Kiri shawl, mom and dad wore their slippers and mom also wore her Broadripple socks.
I met my parent's new puppy, Porter. And made their other doggy, Schooner, wear antlers.

My dad made Æbleskiver for breakfast - another use for a knitting needle is for turning these in the pan. Jesper's mom is Danish, but he doesn't recall eating these before. They are pretty technical to cook - but a real treat too!

Jesper got me the pasta maker attachment for my KitchenAid mixer and we made fetuccini pasta last night. It was pretty easy, especially with two.

Now I need to get focused on my job hunt.

My MRI is today - but I might not know until the new year the results.

My resume is ready! The starter gun has been shot and I am going to be doing everything I can from home to get something lined up. + KNIT A LOT.
I started my Eco wool jacket today and am clicking away on the sleeves. I'm using size 8 rather than 10 needles to make the material looks more solid. The wool is pretty scratchy, but I think it will wash out very nice when I am done. Maybe I'll finish it in a week at this rate.

Also I've finally found the energy to post a bunch of finished projects in my gallery - if you are getting gifts from me this weekend... I suggest not looking :)

Today I went to the Doctor and he said there is a strong possibility that I will need knee surgery; I'll have a MRI next week. I just keep telling myself things could be worse! I am not loosing my leg, it's just out of service. There are a ton of "bright side" statements that I can make that help me to stop feeling sorry for myself. I am also suspicious this is a result of my wishing very hard over the last month that I could just stay home and knit all day - I guess wishes do come true, but - like in the Genie in a Bottle story goes, the wish isn't always packaged in a desirable situation.
Being limited to crutches have prevented me from getting those photos taken.

I did finally finish my grey steam scarf last night. It is really nice looking - I think I'll be keeping it.

I have found out that there are no lace blocking pins to buy on the eastside and might resort to asking Jesper to drive to Weaving Works to get me a set today.

I've started a sweater for myself from an old Vouge magazine.

My week isn't exactly lookin up yet... last night I got a parking ticket (totally my fault) and tonight I strained my knee playing Innebandy and have just returned from the ER. Expect a lot of knitting and job hunt updates because it will be just me here home with the cat and crutches. Maybe I'll get myself a handicapped parking permit, that would look nice on my dashboard.

I am binding off Kiri tonight and will block it tomorrow. Luckily my condo is tiny, so the couch and computer are only a few crutch swings away.

Sorry no photos lately - I promise there will be stuff to look at tomorrow.
Today I went to my career seminar and have a good idea on how to make my resume much better. I'm going to remove the other resume I posted here so no one hands it out. I don't want to jump the gun!

THis weekend was good. Friday night we went snowboarding at the pass for a few hours. It was really cold and quite foggy. The tempature at the bottom was 15F. Brrr!

I knit a lot this weekend. I finished the sock I was working on, then knit the second one on size 5 needles instead of 6. It looks 200% better, so the 3rd sock will be knit from sock 1.

For the Kiri shawl, I am on row 5 of 11 of the edging and look forward to blocking my first finished shawl.

I got a huge stack of job-hunting books from the library and will be browsing them over the next month. I am really looking forward to the career workshop I have tomorrow. I won't be giving out my resume anymore until after it's been hashed out with my consultant. I want to get this right on the first shot.

Headed to Seattle for some knitting tonight. I love my portable therapy/hobby!

Here is my resume in .txt format. I am going to be going to a 2-day "career transition" workshop paid for by my company next week and will have a perfected resume then. Just in case anyboydy knows somebody.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am really looking on the bright side of this. I am getting paid through January 31st, so that is nice. I also have 5 years more experience than I did on my last serious job search.

For today - I am going to knit and then go night boarding at Snoqualmie Pass.

I started the thuja socks last night - my gauge is too loose even though I got gauge on my swatch, but I don't care.

Oh Joy to the wolrd - I was laid off today - don't you just love corporate downsizing?

If anyine hears of some job openings in the Seattle/Eastside area in Communications, enty-level Tech Writing, Event Planning or Project Administration, send them my way.

I'm going home to knit now.

Yesterday I made Glogg. It turned out really nice, but is all gone after the St. Lucia Eve party. I'll be making more for X-mas. I used the recipe from the back page of Everyday Foods, doubled it and added almost a bottle of Port also (had to save some for sipping later).

Last night I made up a pair of baby socks and will start the other pair tonight.

I got my secret pal gift today - she revealed herself! I am excited to have received addi-turbo size 5 needles as I've been using this size a lot. I haven't had a chance to look through the design journal, but I am planning on absorbing it's information asap. Now what to make with my new yarn? Thank you, thank you Delia!

I re-visited the hat I was designing from the steam pattern. I ripped back and decided it was too tight for a hat, but great for a headband. Which is where I leave it. Maybe someday I'll do the same pattern again in a little bigger gauge, so it's not so tight. But here it is.

I also got a photo of my steam scarf all done! I finished it in Australia.

Home improvements! Jesper and I have gotten organized... thanks to the IKEA EXPEDIT storage system. Thursday night we assembled the storage boxes.

This huge piece or furniture has made everything much more organized. On a roll, Jesper also was kind enough to mount my PC monitor on the wall, mount a kitchen shelf and hang a pot rack after assembling the EXPEDIT unit - he's a jewel! He even got out his new label maker and labelled the boxes!

Tonight is the MS holiday party and I'm going to spend this afternoon relaxing and knitting in between organizing.

Knitammie is working on Steam! I still need to photograph my red finished one.

I've written up clear directions on how to knit a mitten ornament.

It takes about 45 minutes - 1 hour to make an ornament. I made 2 last night, another stocking and a mitten. Here is the mitten I made Tuesday.

Wednesday, December 07, 2005

Last night I finished a holiday gift and knit a cute little stripped mitten ornament. I have revised the pattern from the original I found online and will post it tomorrow all formatted pretty with check boxes.

This weekend was quite productive! I made Radicchio Flat Bread from Martha Stwart, Indian Butter Chicken and a double batch of zucchini bread.

Knitting: Worked on a gift plus I whipped out two holiday ornaments, a mitten and a stocking. Perfect use of leftover Cascade 220. I gave a away the mitten last night and the stocking is staying on the sailboat on the diesel heater.

I am inspired thanks to little birds blog.

24 advent stockings out of felt and I am going to embelish them... by NEXT X-mas.

This is the font I am going to get the numbers from and have put a stocking template here if you are interested in doing the same project. With a .5 inch seam, my stocking would be about 9" tall and 5.5" wide finished. You would need 1.5 yards of 45" wide red wool felt (this is enough for mistakes).
I saw this hat pattern linked from Jessica's blog and now I am looking forward to using it with some extra bits of yarn. Rule - I can't make it before X-mas unless it's a gift.

The kiri shawl is coming along quite nicely. Since I'm still on skein #1, I guess I'm not even halfway done, but it's going to be gorgeous when I finish.

Oh yeah - everybody's doing it - put yourself on my Frappr map!

Check out my Frappr!

fun scuba photos!

I hope to finish our photo gallery tonight.
