Baby Juncos update:

Last night we ate dinner while listening to the babies feed by their parents. We thought they'd be around for another few days. Well, this morning - they are all gone! We will miss them. Unless they come back to sleep? Somehow I doubt it.

Last photo, the night before they flew:

Argyle vest is off gauge - math is needed before proceeding.

Baby birds are doing well also - I wonder when they will fly? They grow every day!

I just had to post this photo of Jesper working hard on the kitchen project. Notice he's wearing his Mariner's baseball "Stitch N' Pitch" t-shirt!

Lately I've still been knitting Jesper's sweater - sleeves are nearing halfway. Tonight I started the Argyle Vest and am almost done with the base ribbing. Of course this is going to put delays on Jesper's sweater.

Some home improvement has been happening also. We ripped out the kitchen florescent ceiling fixture and now have a foot higher ceiling and modern fixtures from IKEA. We learned about drywall and joint compound and texturing. Jesper got to do some re-wiring and we just have a final coat of ceiling paint to apply. Although it's impossible to match the texture, it's still a little dissapointing that the new texture next to the old is noticable, but only if you look up at it. The light in the room will be the nice change. I think florescent lighting is pretty draining.

Spring is also here - with a bird nest on in my hanging planter. I was about to toss it and found out there was a nest in it. Were are checking the process daily. It's pretty fun. We just step onto a chair to look in. Much easier than climbing a tree to see a nest! We don't know what kind of bird it is. Some common bird, not a robin. Maybe a sparrow? Haven't seen a picture that looks right.

How is it that Knit Picks e-mails me that my yarn order has been cancelled and it won't be in stock until July and then I get it in the mail today? It would be better if they forgot to charge me, but that might not happen. Anyway, I have the white merino style yarn I needed to start my argyle vest project. I hope it's still in style when it's hot! I guess that's what air conditioning is for.

Oh yeah - my Friday Harbor socks are done and I wore them around the house last night. I am not a fan of the toe decrease, it's much too pointy. I do love the heel though.

Now I am totally focused on Jesper's sweater. I am on the back decreases and then will only have sleeves left.

This past weekend we took Amtrak to Portland. The ride was very relaxing. With free busses in the Portland downtown area, we were able to get around quickly. We visited Powell's bookstore and of course Knit/Purl. The knitting store was having their Annicversary sale - so I picked out some "Socks that Rock" yarn. It's handpainted - it will be a surprise how it knits up. In general, I was surprised by how empty the streets were; I guess since it was raining on and off, people went to the mall instead of downtown. Although it rained, we were never caught in it, always good timing.
We were given some great recommendations by our hotel for a jazz club and also the best brunch in town.

Last night at Purlygirls there was only one other person! I went home early and soon Jesper arrived with a big smile and a new toy - a Swedish brand industrial vacuum. Of course he was so proud of the new machine, he vacuumed the condo.

Today I laced my shoes as a latice.

J's sweater: Finished front panels - need to re-knit back panel and start sleeves
Friday Harbor Socks: on heel panel

This weekend: PORTLAND!
I'm taking advantage of my Expedia.com perks. We're taking Amtrak down and will walk a lot - which will be great excercise! Only set plans are to visit Powell's bookstore and Knit/Purl yarn shop.

This weekend was nice - we spent it in our Seattle city cabin aka the sailboat. While relaxing on Sunday - a neighor boat's cat (his tag said Moe) came in for a look around Impulsive and visited with me on the couch. It's really nice to have a kitty aboard. Stella would not be into the boating scene we've decided.

Saw an interesting movie - Syriana - need to see that one again. So much was going on, we should have taken notes.

I am done with the first Friday Harbor sock.

I think I am getting back on a good track with J's sweater. Luckily I had it when I got stuck in traffic on the way to Purlygirls. I need to mark my calendar to avoid commuting to Seattle on baseball nights.
